Rainbow Trout is built on an illusion. Up close it's a scale texture pulled straight from the water, cool blues and violets shifting like light on the surface. Then there's the stripe: a full spectrum cutting straight through, the one flash of colour that gives it away. It photographs like it should be reflective. It isn't. That's the whole trick.
